In this two part series I will be detailing what the average Mennonite looks like. In true Menno style, I shall being with the gentlemen.
The clothes.
The most prominent item in the attire is the overalls. These homemade beauties are usually a tight fit and feature a metal button/latching closure system, various size storage compartments in front chest pocket and breather flaps on the side. Optional extras are rare and the pants are often brown but definitely limited to dark muted tones.
The shirt, also homemade, is the standard fare of a collared button up. The options are long or short sleeve, buttons or “poppers” and solid colours or patterns for weekends.
The Mennonite man’s hat.
This is one of 2 options. Either a trucker cap or cowboy hat. Although not as practical, the cowboy hats can make appearances on the field.
The shoes
These are usually work boots of some sort. Often understated but the more “showy” folk will bust out cowboy boots the field. The rest of the Mennonite Men save their nice cowboy boots for the more formal occasions.
Now that you know what to look for, here is a visual.
